San Francisco Black Collection #7...
Design - Here we have a beautiful flowing 1930s creation in black silk chiffon with black silk accents. This gown features an empire waist with a silk velvet band just under the bust that continues around the back with two, long silk velvet ties. Just under the band is another band of ruching with a heavily gathered section of chiffon is found in a long front panel, closely dipping and swirling in what looks something like a frontal train. the rest of the skirt is also made of a less gathered flowing sheer chiffon that swirls and flows ethereally around the wearer. Keeping with the theme the bust is also gathered and comes to a low cut V in the front with two thin velvet straps on each side that slide up over the shoulders and down to a low cut back. An attached black under slip is found underneath the flowing sea of chiffon, adding slightly more fullness at the bottom. A truly gorgeous piece full of flowing femininity.
Material - black silk velvet, black silk chiffon
Maker - There is no makers mark but this dress was exceptionally well designed and created as are all of the gowns in this collection. We are calling the dresses from this collection the "San Francisco Black Collection" because they belonged to a San Francisco socialite with ties to America's First Super Model Audrey Munson. The provenance is a bit murky and because we were unable to be 100% clear it is not included with the dresses or in the price of the garments.
