San Francisco Black Collection #6...
Design - Here we have a beautiful gown and matching vest from the 1920s. It comes to you in a black lace. The design of the lace outer gown is slightly fitted drop waist style with the inner, built-in silk charmeuse slip being a bit more fitted. The gown was intended to be worn without a bra as the built-in slip begins as a very low cut bustier (not fitted of course, only in styling) and is repeated on the back to show the wearers back through the lace and ends a foot above the outer lace gown in scallops, leaving the light to come through the lace at the bottom of the gown. The gown is cut on the bias and is more clingy until it begins to become full of folds a the lower part of the gown. The lace gown also ends in sculptural scallops.
The vest fits loosely over the gown with no closures and is adorned by three black silk crepe abstract floral pieces.
Material - black lace, black silk charmeuse, black silk crepe accents
Maker - There is no makers mark but this dress was exceptionally well designed and created as are all of the gowns in this collection. We are calling the dresses from this collection the "San Francisco Black Collection" because they belonged to a San Francisco socialite with ties to America's First Super Model Audrey Munson. The provenance is a bit murky and because we were unable to be 100% clear it is not included with the dresses or in the price of the garments.
Measurements
*Please double all measurements except length
*I wanted to note that my model is 32-26-39 for perspective on size and it was not pinned on her.
*Keep in mind that the gown has no closures and must be put on over the head so room must be left in order to put in on and to retain its drop waist look. I would recommend it be worn at least a size or two under the measurements.
Bust- 18"
Waist - 20"
Length - 65"
