A Pre War - Pink Party Enigma...

Design - This dress was designed during the resurgence of the romantic southern belle following the wildly popular movie "Gone With the Wind." A number of voluptuous gowns made there way into the fashion world in the very late 1930s and very early 1940's trying to mimic the popular "romantic" look perpetuated by the character Scarlett O'Hara.

This striking coral pink dress features a bias cut waist, gathering at the bust, a slight V neck and a fitted waist with a full, tiered skirt. It snaps at the side and has a long, like belt/sash made from like material. It has a gorgeous V in the back exposing the shoulder blades of it's wearer. One of the best features of this dress are the exaggerated puff sleeves. Because of the way the sleeves are designed combined with the stiffness of the taffeta material the sleeves give a dramatic puff elevating the fashion statement of this wonderful dress.
